About The University

Samarkand State Medical University (SamSMU), formerly known as Samarkand State Medical Institute, is one of the oldest and most prestigious medical institutions in Uzbekistan. Established in 1930, it has trained thousands of highly skilled doctors, specialists, and researchers who are now serving in various countries across the globe. In April 2022, the institute was officially granted university status, marking a new era in its academic journey.

Located in the historic city of Samarkand, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the university combines cultural heritage with modern medical education. SamSMU boasts world-class infrastructure, highly qualified faculty, and an increasing number of international students every year.
