About The University

Kyrgyz National University (KNU) named after Jusup Balasagyn is the oldest and largest public university in Kyrgyzstan, established in October 1925 in Bishkek. In August 2023, KNU entered into a formal partnership with Yenepoya University, India, launching its Faculty of Medicine, and becoming the first university in Central Asia to offer a 6-year MD program in collaboration with an international university.

Under this partnership, Yenepoya International Education (based in Bishkek) delivers the curriculum with Indian faculty teaching in English, aligning fully with international licensing standards (USMLE, NMC, ECFMG, etc.) The program includes advanced simulation labs, digital learning tools, clinical rotations and robust student support with Indian-friendly hostel and mess facilities.

KNU’s Faculty of Medicine operates under the Ministry of Education & Science of Kyrgyzstan, with oversight from the Ministry of Health. The university boasts established infrastructure: multiple faculties, affiliated teaching hospitals and strong academic governance.
