The National Medical Commission does not approve countries or universities.

It checks whether your degree meets specific rules under the FMGL Regulations.

1. You qualify NEET (minimum passing marks)

2. Course Duration (Most Important Rule)
   Minimum 54 months (4.5 years) academic study
   Mandatory 12-month internship

         Total: 5.5 to 6 years

Even a shortfall of a few months = disqualification

3. Internship Rule

• Internship must be completed
• In the same country where you studied MBBS
• At a recognized hospital
  

  Not allowed:

  • Internship in India
  • Partial internship abroad
  • Missing documentation

   This is the one reason students get rejected by NMC

  4. Medium of Instruction
  • Entire course must be 100% in English
  • Bilingual programs are not accepted
  • Local language is allowed only for patient interaction, not teaching.
  5. WDOMS Listing (Mandatory Check)

  Your university must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) https://www.wdoms.org/

  6. Registration in the same country
     Students must also be eligible for medical registration in the same country where they completed their MBBS.
  7. NExT / FMGE Exam

  From 2026:

  • All foreign graduates must clear NExT (National Exit Test) / FMGE

  Without passing:

  • No license
  • No practice in India

  Remember that

  If you violate even ONE NMC rule:

  • Your MBBS degree becomes invalid in India
  • You cannot register as a doctor in India
  • Your entire investment is at risk in India
